Talk of the Trade is a directory of Australian trades ranked by how many reviews they have: 57,589 businesses across 28 trades as of October 2026, with 2,480,412 reviews counted. Quote Desk is the software side of the same team, built for the trades the directory lists.
Why a quoting tool
Running a directory of trades means reading a lot of reviews. The complaints are rarely about the work. They are about the quote that never came, the price that changed, the thing that was said but not written down. A quoting tool that is fast enough to use from the ute and plain enough for a customer to accept on their phone addresses most of that.
What it is not
Quote Desk is not a listing, a badge, a rank or a claim on a directory profile. Paying for it does not move anyone on Talk of the Trade. The directory ranks by review count and that is not for sale at any price. The two things share a team and a domain and nothing else.
How it is run
The product is operated by the Talk of the Trade team under an Australian sole-trader ABN, provided on request. It is hosted in Sydney, billed in Australian dollars, and supported by email from Melbourne. We are not registered for GST, so no GST is added to the plan prices.
Where it is going
The changelog lists what the product does, by month, starting from launch. We do not publish a roadmap and we do not describe features before they exist. When something is added, it appears there and in the help centre on the same day.
Who is behind it
Quote Desk is made and run by the Talk of the Trade team in Australia. There is no sales team, no reseller and no one else between you and the people who built it.
