What Free costs

Free costs no money. It costs a tick in one box at sign-up. The box reads:

I agree to receive marketing from Talk of the Trade and its partners about business growth and advertising services, by email and phone. Unsubscribe any time.

That means Talk of the Trade, and the partner named on the partners page linked from the box, may email you and ring you about services that help a business get more work or advertise. Some calls may be made by an automated voice assistant. Nobody will text you under this consent. The box is unticked until you tick it, and Free is not available without it.

You can withdraw at any time: press Withdraw marketing consent on your Account page, press the unsubscribe link in any marketing email, reply stop, tell the caller, or email hello@talkofthetrade.com.au. Once you withdraw, the marketing stops. Because the consent is what pays for Free, the free plan then runs to the end of the current month, Melbourne time, and ends unless you move to Starter or Crew or give the consent again from your Account page. Your data is not deleted while the account exists.

Starter and Crew carry no marketing consent at all. You pay by card and that is the whole arrangement.

Pricing questions

Is there GST on top of the price?

No. We are not registered for GST, so $39 is $39 and $99 is $99. Your invoices, which you can open from Billing, show the amount charged with no tax line.

How do I pay?

By card, through a hosted payment page run by the card processor. Card details never pass through Quote Desk. Billing in the dashboard shows the plan, the next charge date, your invoices, a button to update the card and a button to cancel.

When does the month reset?

On the first of each calendar month, Melbourne time. Quotes and enquiries are counted in the month they happen. A quote send that fails is given back; a draft is never counted.

What happens if my card fails?

The dashboard shows a notice that the last payment did not go through, with a link to update the card. Your plan stays on while you fix it. Once a new card is saved the overdue payment is taken straight away. If it is not fixed and the plan ends, your account is paused: you can read everything but send nothing until you pick a plan again or move to Free by ticking the consent.

Can I move between plans?

Yes. From Free, the upgrade buttons in the dashboard take you to checkout for Starter or Crew. Between Starter and Crew, press Move to on the pricing page while signed in: the price changes in place on the card you have on file, the difference for the rest of the month is worked out on the spot, and Billing shows the new plan within a minute. To go down to Free, cancel at period end from Billing; when the plan ends, the Billing page offers Free again with its consent box.

Does paying change my listing on Talk of the Trade?

No. Quote Desk is a separate product. Paying for it buys quoting software and nothing else: no listing, no rank, no badge, no claim on a profile. The directory's rankings are by review count and are not for sale.

Will I be contacted about marketing on a paid plan?

A Starter or Crew sign-up carries no marketing consent. If you started on Free and moved up, the consent you gave then stays on record until you withdraw it, which the unsubscribe link in any marketing email does. Beyond that you will get the emails the product needs to send, such as your welcome email and a password-change notice, and nothing else.

Is there a contract or a minimum term?

No. Plans are month to month. Cancel from Billing and the plan stops at the end of the month you have paid for. There is no cancellation fee.
