Quoting for garage door specialists
Garage door work comes two ways: a service call to a door that will not open, and a new sectional or roller door with an opener. One is a call-out and a part; the other is a size, a colour, a motor and the old door out. Quote Desk handles both from one price list, sent from the driveway.

What gets in the way for garage door specialists
Repair or replace
A door with a broken spring and a tired opener could be fixed today or replaced next month. Two quotes, one for each, let the customer choose with both numbers in front of them rather than from a conversation in the driveway.
The car is stuck inside
Service calls are urgent, and the customer wants a price before you touch the spring. A call-out line and a spring line, accepted on their phone, gets the work started with the price on record.
Made to size, in a colour, with a wait
A new door is made to the opening in the colour chosen, and it takes weeks. The note is where the measured size, the colour and the lead time go, so the yes covers all three.
Remotes, seals and the small extras
Spare remotes, a weather seal, a battery back-up. Small items the customer asks for on the day belong on your list, so they make it onto the quote rather than being given away.
A worked example
Garage door specialist work, with Quote Desk
Take a fictional business, Tumbleweed Garage Doors, a service technician and an installer. Price list: service call-out $135 each, torsion spring pair replacement $340 each, roller door service and adjust $160 each, sectional door 4.8 by 2.1 metres supply and fit $2,950 each, sectional door opener supply and fit $890 each, remove and dispose of old door $180 each, extra remote $75 each.
A customer pastes in a text: the sectional door will not lift and the car is inside. The technician finds a broken spring. Quote this: call-out x1, spring pair x1. The note says the price includes GST, the springs are in the van, and the door is balanced and tested before he leaves. Total $475. The customer accepts it in the driveway, and the car is out within the hour.
The door is twenty years old and the opener is tired, so he sends a second quote for a replacement: sectional door x1, opener x1, removal x1, extra remote x2. The note gives the size measured, the colour range, about three weeks to make, and the old door taken away on the day of the fit. Total $4,170. Both quotes now sit under the customer's name, the repair under Won and the replacement under Waiting on the customer. He presses Follow up automatically on the replacement, and the customer accepts it on day ten, after the third reminder.

Questions from garage door specialists
Can I send a repair price and a replacement price to the same customer?
Yes, as two quotes. Each has its own accept link, and the quotes page shows both under the customer's name. Switch follow-ups on for the one you want chased.
How do I quote a colour or size the customer has not settled?
Quote the size you measured and name the colour range in the note. If they pick something that changes the price, send a new quote; a saved quote is never edited.
Can I quote a service visit before I know what is wrong?
Quote the call-out, and say in the note that parts are quoted once the fault is found. The second quote, for the part, can be accepted while you are standing in the garage.
