Building a quote

Lines, quantities, prices and the note, and the rules the quote builder works by.

A quote is a customer name, a customer email, one to twenty lines, and an optional note.

Each line is a description, a whole-number quantity and a unit price. Pick an item from your price list and the description and price are set for you; you choose the quantity. Or leave the drop-down on Type it in instead and fill in all three yourself. You can mix list items and typed-in lines on one quote.

The line total is quantity times unit price. The quote total is the sum of the lines. Nothing else is added: no GST, no fees, no rounding. If your prices include GST, say so in the note.

Quantities are whole numbers. Quote an hour and a half as a line of your own, or price a half-hour item on your list. A unit price can be zero, which is how you show something included at no charge.

Every line needs a description and a price, and every line needs a quantity of one or more. The form tells you which line is missing something.

The note is one box of free text shown in the email and on the accept page. Use it for inclusions, exclusions, timing, how long the price stands, deposit terms and GST.

Press Save draft to see the quote as the customer will.
